Experience
Ade is an experienced and registered Counsellor/Therapist and has worked in various fields of mental health and within detox and rehabilitation settings. Ade is passionate, dedicated and committed to providing a high level of professional practice. His purpose is to provide a safe and secure space to explore whatever you need to bring and explore, all within a non-judgemental and kind environment.
Addiction
The causes of addiction are complex and are usually the result of many factors. Sometimes the causes of addictive behaviour are clear and easily understood while, for some people, the underlying cause is very deep within and requires a deeper understanding. Addiction occurs at all levels of society throughout the world and comes in many forms - substances, sex, shopping, gambling, exercise etc. However, there is a great deal of misunderstanding about addiction and society can be very judgemental towards those affected by addiction.
Addiction is often seen as a weakness when, instead, addiction is a serious mental health problem. At its worst, addiction can be life-threatening. Sessions with Ade can start the process of exploration of the issues that run alongside addiction. All within a safe and non-judgemental space. Having significant experience in this field, you can be sure to be with the right counsellor when with Ade.
Trauma
Trauma is very subjective and personal to an individual and one cannot compare trauma, for they are of their own experience and consequence to the person whom has felt it. If something has caused pain or anguish, that is a trauma.
Trauma causes us to carry our experiences and for them to come 'out' when we are triggered. Recognising and changing behavioural patterns that have built over time is a fundamental part of therapy. Within therapy we can develop ways to gently confront and overcome fears, avoidances and anxious thoughts. Techniques might include: challenging anxious thoughts. confronting feared situations in a safe environment.
Relationships
Often people seek relationship counselling only when the situation gets really bad, but Ade can work effectively with you whenever you need him, no matter what situation you face in your relationship. Even if your problems seem trivial, or even if you don't have problems at all, he is there to help.
Relationship counselling can offer a couple, and individual, time and space to reflect on their patterns of behaviour and to help them understand why they feel and respond the way they do. It can help to face past relational experiences which may be unresolved and which may be re-playing in current relationships. At times, it is our learning in our own early family and childhood which may be getting in the way of our current intimate relationships. Exploring those can be the key to enabling a far better relationship with self and others.
Other information
Ade also works a lot within the community on a voluntary basis and has been doing so for a number of years.
He finds this to be a fundamental part of his life and giving to others, in this way, charges his batteries in the most positive way possible.
