Training

Kelly is a fully qualified, BACP registered psychotherapist,  with 20 years of experience working in therapeutic roles within the NHS, East Sussex Children's Services, Refuge and Psychology Teams, working with those who experienced trauma, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, depression, anxiety, and neurodiversity.

Approach

Kelly uses the psychodynamic approach, an evidence-based therapeutic style that can help with trauma and other issues by focusing on uncovering and understanding the deep-seated, often unconscious, emotional wounds and memories that contribute to distress.  In essence, the psychodynamic approach helps you understand the root causes of your trauma, how it affects you today, and empowers you to heal and move forward. Kelly has also trained with leading attachment therapists, as well as completing training in the body and movement, meditation, mindfulness and journaling to provide a holistic service.

Trauma Recovery

Kelly also works with relationship difficulties and attachment. Our early life experiences can impact how we connect with others in relationships, and understanding how those early experiences are influencing your current relationships and behaviours can be instrumental in affecting change.

In sessions with Kelly, you will be supported to look at those thoughts and feelings that might be quietly sabotaging your connections. She helps you uncover these hidden emotions, so you can see why you act and feel the way you do with others. You can start to see how your past is affecting your present, and with guidance, you can work through those old wounds. Over time, this helps you build healthier, more secure relationships. You can learn to respond differently, set better boundaries, and feel more fulfilled in your connections with others.

Relationship difficulties and attachment

Kelly helps people who have experienced trauma or abuse (in childhood or as an adult) to move past the pain and into the life they want. Kelly works with you to explore how past experiences have impacted you and find ways forward into a more fulfilling life. Kelly’s approach is to see the human in you, not just a client. She responds to your story with respect, curiosity and belief in your capacity to heal. You deserve to access the support you need, and you deserve to live a life free from suffering.

Are you struggling to manage feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, addiction, or any behaviour you feel stuck in?.  Do you find yourself in toxic or difficult relationships repeatedly? Or find work stress unmanageable?. Whatever your struggle, unresolved trauma could be behind these painful experiences.

Kelly’s approach is to help you develop an understanding of the impact of your trauma experiences, and gain control and choice over how you want to live, allowing you to be more authentically you, and with less pain.

Recovery from narcissistic abuse

Kelly provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore the deep emotional wounds inflicted by narcissistic relationships (parent to child or intimate).

The impact of narcissistic abuse can be painful and leave individuals with a sense of shame and loss. Therapy focuses on rebuilding a sense of self-worth and autonomy as well as making sense of the relationship and what happens within us, following this kind of abuse.

Kelly aims to help individuals process the trauma and grief associated with the loss of the relationship, facilitating emotional closure. Therapy can help regain confidence and understand the impact of emotional abuse, gaslighting and the loss of self-worth.
