Training
Miche trained in Humanistic Psychotherapy at Spectrum in London. Largely informed by Gestalt and somatic psychotherapy, the training included modules in relationships, sexuality and anger management. She completed further ‘Love, Intimacy and Sexuality’ training with HAI-UK.
Building on her original degree in Psychology & Neurophysiology, she applies Polyvagal Theory and theories of somatic regulation in her work with clients.
She has been in private practice for 16 years, working in London, Brighton and East Grinstead. Previous to this, she worked as a Connexions Adviser with young people with complex needs and as a contact supervisor with children in Care and their families. She provides supervision and trauma-training to SEND staff within the Everychild Schools Partnership Trust.
Miche trained in Nature Awareness with Trackways and the Art of Mentoring, which underpins her Outdoor Therapy practice. She is proficient in energy healing and runs workshops and courses in energy, intuition and spirit connection.
Approach
Miche is a warm, empathic and responsive practitioner who will hold you in whatever you are going through and facilitate you to create the changes you are seeking.
Because her training and experience span a wide range of areas (e.g. body, presence, relationships, feelings, psychology, creativity, intuition, energetics & spiritual concerns) therapy with Miche can be tailored to be responsive to all of who you are and to what suits you best.
If it feels appropriate for you, sessions can include: somatic work, creative methods (drawing, movement, writing), 'parts' work, inner child process, healing of specific traumas, meditation, visualisation, solution-focussed approaches, spirit / soul considerations
Emotional regulation
Miche provides a safely held space for individuals to consider how they are struggling with their emotions and to find ways to feel more safe, stable and calm, moment by moment.
With her background in psychology, neurophysiology and polyvagal theory, she is experienced in supporting people to understand their symptoms of distress, panic, anxiety, overwhelm, angry reactions and/or depression and to find ways to resolve these issues.
Miche can be a guide in:
• resolving unfinished emotional business that is keeping you stuck
• learning practical somatic tools to help your nervous system to settle
• developing good practices of emotional self-care
• using healthy anger management practices
Working in psychotherapy in this way opens up the possibility of coming to feel more stable, happy, connected and satisfied on a day-to-day basis.
This approach is good for addressing issues such as: chronic anger, anxiety, distress, overwhelm, catastrophising thoughts, panic attacks, depression, mood swings, constant tearfulness.
Inner Child / Younger Self
Sometimes people don’t get what they need at critical times in their lives (e.g. love, care, empathy, affirmation), which can cause difficulties in later life. They can find themselves:
• stuck in repeating emotional patterns
• traumatised
• conflicted on the inside
• unable to identify needs
• ashamed of feeling ‘needy’
• unable to access their 'adult' in particular situations
In Inner Child / Younger Self process work, Miche supports clients to work with younger 'parts' in a gentle way (using imagination, sensation and visualisation), to achieve peace and resolution. This can help with:
• reclaiming lost parts
• resolving the echoes of trauma
• undoing triggers
• finding adult form
• growth in self-love, compassion and self-esteem
The approach is a synthesis of Miche's experience in Gestalt "parts" work, re-parenting training, trauma resolution and energy healing techniques and is embedded in the flow of psychotherapy session. She takes care to facilitate in a way that is responsive and sensitive to the client's needs.
Relationships and connectedness
Miche helps clients to untangle and understand what’s happening in their relationships. This could be, for example, with family members, friends, co-workers or romantic partners, but also includes their relationship with themselves.
Often, in our culture, we aren’t taught ways to manage relationships in a healthy and effective way. Miche helps individuals consider:
• Communication styles
• Behaviour
• Attachment patterns
• Relationship histories
• Boundary setting
• Identifying and communicating needs
• Sexuality concerns
• Intimacy issues
• Resolving conflicts
• Healing from the impact of abuse
Miche has trained extensively in transforming relationships, communication skills, paths to healthy sexuality, and conflict resolution. She combines psychotherapy with exploration of practical relationship skills, to help support individuals to take responsibility for their own impact, manage the impact of others, and grow the ability to create (and sustain) connected & satisfying relationships.
